Story Of Mongolian BBQ

The Mongolian empire, established by the ruler Genghis Khan, was the largest empire in  world history. At its height, the Mongolian empire stretched from China to East Central Asia and to the hills of Hungary.

All armies are known to march on the food they eat, and this was the same for Mongolian warriors. Their basic day-to-day meals were tenderised strips of meat carried under their saddles. It was, however, the victory feast, that has been passed down to today by the descendants of these superb warriors. After battle, the warriors would go hunting with their lance, bow and arrows. The meat from the hunt was sliced thinly and barbecued on their metal shields of war. The war shield has now been made into a standardised round plate which is still true to the original shape and metal. Slender branches from trees were used as chopsticks to toss the food.

At the Sizzling Mongolian we have adapted the superb culinary concepts of the Mongolian warriors in a way which respects the original tradition with a modern twist.
